I’m an American so i’m going to use an American reference. Finton is the type of guy to hear of the Boston Massacre and lament the fact a British soldier may have chipped his nail when firing into a crowd. When Dr. King was assassinated African Americans didn’t say “oh well white people have had it bad too” they said “enough is enough.” When you oppress and kill people, those people have a damned right to point at it and say the people who did this are scum.

I know a lot of good interviewers, I am a Historian myself and interviewing is a key part of that, I have never seen someone make baseless claims with zero facts at a group of people and then talk over them when they try to respond. Believe it or not when you show that you have no intention of listening to someone, you get justly verbally harassed, and that’s exactly what happened here. That fuckin guy poked the bear and cried havoc when it attacked him.

I mean you’d have to be utterly bat shit insane to think “why are their negative English sentiments in an Irish song.” Next they’re going to wonder about why the Indians wanted independence, or why Nigeria sought to leave that Empire, or why the United States decided the only wat to resolve the situation was revolutionary war. English history is that of conquest and subjugation, to be confused about why that may have rubbed some people the wrong way is just revisionism.
